How come the App Store is taking so long to open?

I just connected my iPod Touch 4G 32GB to iTunes and set up an account and connected it to the Wi-Fi network and all of that good stuff. Next, i tried to open the App Store of my iPod Touch for the first time. It was loading and loading and loading, so finally i exited out and tried again. It has been like 10 minutes on this second try, still with no App Store. What's the deal?
