What is your criteria for forbidding your teenaged children to do things?

I think many of us are intolerant generally. I hate people playing music I don't like. I complain if my girlfriend wears her hair up when I like it down or if she wears clothes I don't like. I guess we impose our preferences on our children because we can, like you said.
